How to get two parts appear as one part in BOM?

How to get two parts appear as one part in BOM?

How to get two parts appear as one part in BOM?

(OP)
This question has two levels. We have a common wood part that is 4" x X", two of these parts go on each assembly. When we cut the parts out, it is cut as one 8.125" x X" part. It has an edges applied to it, then cut in half, creating two 4" x X" parts. The edges cannot be applied to a part smaller than 6" wide (a machine limitation).

The drawings and model of these assemblies need to show these as two separate parts. The BOM needs to show this as a single part.

Is these a way to accomplish this without having to manually add a configuration every time? Can fool solidworks in to populating the BOM with a single part?

Use a multi-body part.

Check the properties dialog box for each component. There is a box that allows you to exclude that component from the bill of materials. You could do that too.

@annawood I just tried this. It does not show a size in the BOM. I tried adding a custom property, but I get an error, "Cannot add a part or sub-assembly dimension to an assembly custom property". The part sizes are driven by equations. Am I missing something?

@Corblimeylimey to complicate things further, we use CamWorks to program our CNC machine. It separates multibodies in to separate parts to cut.

@Jboggs, that defeats the purpose of the list. I want it in the BOM, but I need to show it as the size it needs to be cut at. We create similar assemblies 100+ times a day, which is why I'm looking for a creative way to not have to manually process these parts each time.

@Jboggs maybe I can exclude one of the parts from the list, and add a custom property to the other part to give it's cut size....since these parts are always the same size, it should work! Thanks!
