Weight Attribute in NX 8 titleblock

Weight Attribute in NX 8 titleblock

(OP)
Hi,
the weight or mass attribute (like all system calculated attributes) aren't visible when in notes I'm trying to referencing to the Object Attributes in the Component part.
It's possible to have this attributes like weight or mass attribute (like all system calculated attributes), creating another attribute that reference to other attribute.
This is the procedure :
"Create a new 'string' Attribute giving it any name that
will work for you, but it must be the same for every part file that you
intend to use in this manner so pick some standard name that will make
sense. Now instead of entering a 'Value', you will see an option below
that entry box titled 'Reference Text'. Select it and you will see a list
of options to select Expressions or Attributes. Select the 'Part Attribute'
option and then from the list select either Weight or Mass (whichever one
you're most comfortable working with) and hit OK."

Question :
1) do I need to add an ER to have this system attribute visible during the referencing to the Object Attributes in notes ?
2) The procedure that I wrote before, work only if the expression name used to create a new attribute is equal for all old and new master part (impossible).
Solution ?

My idea is that this area has some bugs or bad developed.
I don't suggest to change from patterns to titleblock until this area will be productive.
I remember that SolidEdge is more intuitive and useful in this area.

Thank you...

The procedure you wrote seems it has nothing to do with an expression name? It says to create a new attribute that references an existing attribute. As long as the attribute names are the same for old and new master part (easy) it should work.

Hi cowski,
before to write, have you tried to add the mass attribute in the title block ?
Are you sure that NX doesn't convert the mass attribute in an expression when you create a new attribute referenced to another attribute ?
Try and you will discover that I've right and this procedure can be done only for new file that born from this dummy file.
Suggest to your customers to pass from patterns to titleblock and you will discover that they will prefer stay with patterns.

Thank you...
