CO2 REMOVAL from syngas
(OP)
Dear All,
I want to find best solution for co2 removal of syngas. I have found several documents in this result. But for a better descitio my boss needs to know different solutions which are used around the world. Also I want to know is k2co3 used currently in this regard or nowadays just Amine solutions are used?Beside I want to know which amine is the best
thanks

Thanks for your reply.I know this is a huge topic. But It is obvious that there are some rule of thumbs in this regard. For Example I know that now adays more new plants use BASF activated MDEA.I want to know effective parameter.Besides
I thinks it is common to use specific type of Amine for Syngas units. Please guide me or refer me to some useful documents.
Best

If the CO2 is real high, no amine will work in a simple process step because of the extreme heats of reaction. At high CO2 concentrations physical solvents work much better. Sulfinols, propylene carbonates are among the ones used. Membranes are often used to do rough cuts also.
Contamination with such things as O2 raise issues with irreversible degradation of amines.
DEA will not work well unless the pressure is over 180 psig. MDEA also has a low pressure limit, whereas DGA and MEA work at low pressure.
Are you getting the picture on how big the topic gets.
