Precision air conditioning

Precision air conditioning

Precision air conditioning

(OP)
Hi everybody!
I am looking for a precisioning air conditioning device for a lab. The requested condition of the room is 24 +/- 1°C and 55 +/- 5% Relative Humidity.

Is there anyone who can recommend such a device for this application?
I have searched and found out that STULZ, Uniflair and Lennox have such devices for similar applications.I do not have exprience on these brands about their performance. I would appreciate if anybody could share his/her comments on this.

Thank all of you in advance.
Best regards,
Oguz

RE: Precision air conditioning

oozk,

I have had great success using Liebert precision air conditioning systems for labs and computer rooms.  They are highly regarded for such critical applications.  Their web site is

http://www.liebert.com

Another manufacturer of such equipment is Dataaire, although I have no experience with thier products.

Good Luck!

RE: Precision air conditioning

Oguz, nasilsin (are you with WAB in Mass?) - anyway, any decent air handling unit can also do the trick. The Liebert Systems are good, yes, but are typically recirculating only. Check the site - maybe now they have air handling units that bring in outside air.

Some good AHU makes that I've come across include Haakon and Temptrol. Size it for (estimated) 1.5-2 cfm per square foot, depending on lab activity. Hopefully you have chilled water available for cooling, because DX systems, as a general rule, don't provide the degree of cooling and dehumidification control you need for this application (although technology is improving - certain multi-stage units might do the job).

The central unit should cool only; terminal boxes will be required to be equipped with reheat... good luck! -CB

RE: Precision air conditioning

Oguz, without knowing the lab conditions (latent, sensible loads), and the area of the US you are in, it is difficult to recommend a catchall solution. Liebert units are designed for precision temperature and humidity control. They are better suited for high sensible heat loads. I use them exclusively in computer and server rooms. As CB mentioned, Liebert units re-circulate the air. This leaves you with the problem of providing outside air to the space. Do you have any fume hoods? What are you exhaust requirements? I’ve built a few labs and much more information is needed before a solution can be offered. Also, don’t discount DX cooling for dehumidification. Without using some sort of desiccant wheel, DX cooling is the next best solution for wringing out the air. A precision reheat, such as an SCR on an electric duct heater, or a modulated hot water, can be used to control the discharge air to meet the room temperature requirements.

RE: Precision air conditioning

your application and bands are very ordinary. you may choose the chipest one. the main point of your problem may be the after sales services. because your requirements are not problem.if you are not in USA but in a european country an italian may be the chipest. liebert also have a factory in italy. pay attention to services. as much as I know lenox doesnt have such products.
