Support Beam Design

(OP)
Renovating "The cottage that Jack built"
10'x20'room with 4'x20 porch. Outside wall removed, porch enclosed. 14' 4"x6" header installed supported with 4"x6" post, to support roof rafters (serious deflection). Remaining 6' supported with 2"x4" header. I want to eliminate the post and install a beam to span 20' and carry the 12,000 Lb potential snow load.
A flitch beam consisting of a piece of 3/8"x6x20'" non structural steel sandwiched between 2-2"x8x"sx20' Through bolted 24" OC with 5/8" grade 6 bolts has been suggested by a carpenter. I don't want to replace an undersized beam with another inferior one. Can anyone calculate what this beam will carry.
