Why does this refuse to work
(OP)
Here is a challenge. How do u get the holes in the rings to produce corresponding holes in the tube. The faces and points are already published, looks like u can only load one file at a time, so please see other 2 posts for the other 2 files
tube assy..... assembly file
tube link......mating ring
tube tee.......tube file

To create a drawing of Part1 (tee)
Publish Part1.1 (tee top) Point.2
Copy paste/special - as result with link from each instance of Part1.1 (tee top), Point.2 to Part1 (Tee)
create a hole pattern similar to Part1.1 (tee top)
You could then go to the assembly level and create a formula using the FX button between the hole pattern in part1.1 (Tee top) to the hole pattern in Part1 (Tee). Not a necessary step but one that ensures the Tee is the same as Tee top.
Alternatively
Inside Part 1.1 (Tee Top)
Create a new body
Create a hole using Point.2 and plane that is angle normal to yz plane by 45° at the absolute zero of Part1.1 (Tee Top). Make the hole long enough to intersect through Part1 (Tee)
Pattern the hole similar PartBody circ and rect patterns.
Right click over new body and Create Technological Results
Publish the new body.
Activate Part1 (Tee)
Boolean Assemble the new body from Part1.1 (Tee top) instances to Part1 (Tee)
I would have just created the geometry but I use R20/21 and the file is in R17 SP3 format.

RE: Why does this refuse to work
if i create a plane at 45 deg to vertical at 2" dia, and then create a hole on this plane at .25" edge distance an 0" offset dist from other axis, then i cannot instance it in 8 instances at 45 deg each. i guess the plane definition locks out the instancing stuff.
The clocking of the first hole is the big problem. edge distance is easy to specify as an offset, how can you specify the angular angle from horiz or vert plane in degrees? it always defaults to inches offset, and i want to force it to degrees
RE: Why does this refuse to work
Personally, if it was just a visual thing, I would create Hole.2 in the manner that Body.1 is created and publish body.1 to remove from the Tee. This is the simplest way to maintain hole consistency.
Hybrid bodies allow geometric elements to the solid. This is a personal preference thing.
