Hello,

In some cases, for a HEXA20 3D-model, a peak of stress can be obtained (max VM stress at one node only).
In order to get the right interpretation and to compare the max stress to a criterion, different methods can be used as seen on different forum:
- 1st method: the peak is not taken into account (so what value to take? next node?)
- 2nd one: perform a linearization through the thickness (refer to ASME VIII)
- 3rd one: visalization of stresses in the elements

I am quite for the 3rd one but I am not sure if it is acceptable.

It really depends on what your application is and the practise of your firm.
In general, for linear static analysis on 3D parts I would use elemental stresses.
