Dear experts
Which material has better resistance to cavitation.A351 CF8 or A351CF8M?

RE: cavitation resistant material

I guess it is needless to say that it is better to avoid cavitation than to look for a material to resist cavitation?

A351CF8 and A351CF8M have about the same hardness. So, I doubt that one is more resistant against cavitation than the other.

You are absolutely right,it is better to avoid cavitation, but sometimes we have to design a valve for cavitation.for example in two phase fluid or flashing systems.
my next question is that,is hardness the only item to compare cavitation resistant?

RE: cavitation resistant material

I have never designed systems to withstand cavitation but keeping in mind what the results of cavitation are I dare to say YES.
