ANSYS model

ANSYS model

ANSYS model

(OP)
Hello,
I am trying to model a composite material in ANSYS and am having some difficulty using the program. I am fairly new to ANSYS. I am trying to model a square slice of some material with given material properties that has a certain percentage of particles of another material in it. I have it set up in 2D with the each element behavior set to plane stress with a thickness.

I have placed the "particles" (shapes) within the square and have tried meshing the entire slice, being sure to assign the separate material properties.

However when I apply loading conditions it produces a result similar to the result of just a square slice without any shapes in the square.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
