Friction roller drive - the basics

Friction roller drive - the basics

Friction roller drive - the basics

(OP)
I am researching ways to fabricate and implement a friction roller drive unit for telescope motion.  I have a little experience with fabricating, using, and adjusting worm drive units for telescope motion, and know that worm drives can suffer from periodic error and low stiffness.

What reference documents or other resources do you recommend I study to learn more about the basics of friction roller drives?  (In my specific case I'm looking for a speed reduction of approx. 800 from motor shaft to telescope axis.)

Thanks in advance,
Tom Krajci
