Pump and Variable # of Operating Nozzles
Pump and Variable # of Operating Nozzles
(OP)
I am trying to find a good resource to start with for the design of a system with a pump skid feeding water to a collection of nozzles used for washing trucks. The system has 6 nozzles, 2 of one type, 4 of another. I need a starting point for the analysis of the system when any combination of nozzles are receiving flow (some may be off, all may be on, I'd like to analyze flow/pressure for any combo). I have a pump curve and have information on operating psi vs. gpm for the nozzles, but I am not 100% sure how to start an analysis of the system to determine if the current setup will provide proper operating pressure when one, two.... up to all nozzles are operating. Anyone know a text or electronic resource that might be a helpful starting point for this type of analysis?

RE: Pump and Variable # of Operating Nozzles
If you only need to ensure that you have the proper operating pressure for the nozzles, the easyest way to do that is take the information from two points. The first is when only one nozzle is operating. Take the flow rate and check to see if you have too much pressure. The second is take the situation where all the nozzles are operating and to see if you have enough pressure.
