error when performing non-linear analysis on a metallic foam

(OP)
Hello,

I am doing a Non-linear solving on a metallic foam on ANSYS, but I am having problems with volume meshing. many elements have shape warning limits when meshing, and when solving, after the 3rd iteration, ANSYS always give an error message saying the elements are highly distorted. I am using solid 45 to mesh volumes. Tried meshing by element lenght, element divisions, and smartsizing. The warning always appear on meshing, and the error always appears during the 3ª iteration.I´m tring to find a way to mesh without element shape warnings

Can anyone help?

regards,
Hugo

RE: error when performing non-linear analysis on a metallic foam

There may be an issue with the geometry so this needs to be checked. Does it have to be meshed with 45s? Can tets be used?

Tets are the only way to mesh. Quadrilaterals give an error when trying to mesh. I get shape limit warning on nearly 100 elements. I think this might be the cause. How can I avoid shape limit warnings?
