A Produced Water Treatment Selection
A Produced Water Treatment Selection
(OP)
Dears, I am working in an oil company and assigned to select a Produced water treatment facility in order to treat the separated water going out of an Early Production Facility, Analysis was conducted and is as below:
PH Value 5.2-5.5
TDS (calculated): 240,000 mg/l
Specific gravity @20°C 1,144-1,159 g/cm3
Total hardness °dH 3100
Alkalinity @ pH4.3 mmol/l 1,8
Anions
Chloride mg/l 145402
Bromide mg/l 649
Iodide mg/l 51
Sulfate mg/l 351
Hydrogen carbonate mg/l 100
Cations
Lithium mg/l 16,6
Sodium mg/l 72629
Potassium mg/l 2752
Ammonium mg/l 166
Magnesium mg/l 740
Calcium mg/l 18096
Strontium mg/l 1076
Barium mg/l 15,6
Iron total mg/l 91,1
Manganese mg/l 45,9
Ion balance
Anions total mequ/l 3694
Cations total mequ/l 3774
Others
Boron mg/l 35,6
Silicium mg/l 19,3
Oil content 134 ppm oil
Is Ro or RO+Crystallization is suitable to use for this produced water?? is not what process I should use?
Thank you in advance for you participations.
Regards;
Taha

RE: A Produced Water Treatment Selection
However, you have 6 times the amount of salt that is contained in seawater. You also do not mention suspended matter being present.
RO is probably out of the question as the percent recovery (RO Treated Water/Brine Waste * 100) will be very low.
You are looking at some type of evaporation process. Solar ponds or evaporator.

We have a process that will remove many of the contaminants except for the NaCl/KCl. The system generates hydroxyl radicals that enable precipitation of the bad actors and removal of the hydrocarbons and bacteria. Filed testing has demonstrated the ability to produce clear salt water with extremely favorable economics. Please let me know if you would like more info.
