Parking Lot Lighting Desgin

(OP)
I don't have design experience on parking lot lighting design. However, I was asked to review a parking lot lighting plan set to find out the areas to improve/optimize, e.g., reduce the number of lighting poles with different lighting fixtures, etc.

I know it's an opportunity to extend my experience but I am not sure where to start. I have some basic information related to parking lot lighting design.

Are there any good references, websites and/or software to learn parking lot "lighting" design?
I am planning to attend a training in the future but lighting plans should be reviewed soon.

Any information would be highly appreciated.

Thank you! smarty

RE: Parking Lot Lighting Desgin

1. IES Lighting Handbook: http://www.ies.org/handbook/

2. A manufacturer's rep in your area who sells outdoor lighting poles and fixtures. He or she will be a wealth of knowledge, and the major manufacturers all have computer software that does point by point analysis of light levels. If they suspect a sale is in the offing, they'll do all of that for you if you want, and they'll teach if you ask questions.

Best to you,

Goober Dave
