ASME vs UK PD 5500

ASME vs UK PD 5500

(OP)
Hello,

Does anyone know if vessels built in Canada to ASME Sec VIII Div. 1 can be installed in the UK? Does it need to be built to PD 5500? If so, are there many differences in the two codes?

Thank you.

RE: ASME vs UK PD 5500

Yes they can but more importantly the vessel materials, design, fabrication and installation must meet the Pressure Equipment Directive of the UK. ASME does not directly comply with the PED. Additional requirements are needed to comply with the PED such that the vessel can be installed in the UK.
