RE: Pro e installation tips

You don't tell us much about you laptop. What kind of graphics, how fast is the processor, etc. I expect you don't have a good OpenGL video card, nothing you can do.

However, try disabling all the Aero graphics BS in Windoze7, that is a requirement no matter how good the video card. Buried deep in Windoze7 is a button labeled "optimize for best performance" which will kill everything Aero. Click it if you can find it.

RE: Pro e installation tips

Not sure if disabling Aero will make that much of a difference as a 32-bit platform with only 2gigs of ram running win7 will be sub-par for most of what you will be doing I imagine. Windows will use most of that memory just idling let alone just about all 32-bit laptops share that same memory for video which as dgallup pointed out is crucial for ProE. The greatest thing we did was switch over to 64-bit systems with 4gigs minimum (8gigs preferred) and dedicated graphics. With the very limited specs you provided you will be better off with win xp.

Just my opions and good luck,

RE: Pro e installation tips

Get a proper CAD machine. If you have to use a laptop Dell makes some that are CAD worthy. Check out their M4600, M4700, M6600 & M6700 models.

Mobile Intel GMA 4500 is not supported for Pro/E CAD applications.
Overall, that machine will be slow!
