(OP)
I am new in this site and I apologize if this question or similar has been posted before. What is the minimum metal design temperature (MDMT) for the pipe material indicate in the subject? this is for B31.8 code in a gas line inside a compressor station. When running Caesar II to check pipe stress I am getting an error when trying to run at any temperature below 32 F. I would imagine this material should be good for at least -20 F, Am I wrong?

Thanks in advance

RE: API 5L X60 wt 0.375" MDMT

Based on my quick review of ASME B31.8, there is no minimum design metal temperature term by definition. I would hope you have a copy of this standard because if not you need one. Assuming you have a copy, go to 812 and from there go to 841 Steel Pipe Design and read it through. Look at 841.11 (c).

See excerpt below from 841.11 (c)
(c) Fracture Control and Arrest. A fracture toughness
criterion or other method shall be specified to control
fracture propagation when a pipeline is designed to
operate either at a hoop stress over 40% through 80%
of SMYS in sizes NPS 16 or larger, or at a hoop stress
over 72% through 80% of SMYS in sizes smaller than
NPS 16.
When a fracture toughness criterion is used, control
can be achieved by ensuring that the pipe has adequate....

(1) Brittle Fracture Control. To ensure that the pipe
has adequate ductility, fracture toughness testing shall
be performed in accordance with the testing procedures
of supplementary requirements SR5 or SR6 of API 5L,
