Anchor block design

Anchor block design

(OP)
I have a 6" diameter underground pipeline. What can you advice what type of anchor block am I going to use.

RE: Anchor block design

Harty,
Is this a test or a joke?
"What type of anchor block am I going to use.?"
It is going to be a cast in place, reinforced concrete block with some type of device (with cast-in "J" bolts) to connect the pipe to the block and restrain the forces.

Now, how big will this concrete block be? We do not know because you have not figured that out yet and you have not given us the details beyond that it is a 6" pipe. You might ask, what details?
Here is just a few:
- The operating temperature
- The pipe material (coefficient of expansion)
- The pipe schedule (the stiffness)
- The length of pipe run acting on the Anchor Block
- The configuration of the below ground portion
- The configuration of the above ground portion
- The type of soil
- The soil resistance (undisturbed)
- The specification for the compaction of the back fill

Why do you think you need an Anchor Block for this situation?

prognosis: Lead or Lag

RE: Anchor block design

If it's welded pipe, maybe no anchor block.
If it's buried deep enough, maybe no anchor block.

PS. You should be thinking abut how you will avoid constructing an anchor block.
