piping expansion calculation - cold flare (wet gases)

piping expansion calculation - cold flare (wet gases)

Dear all,

Good morning,

Please share your information of piping expansion calculation;

For information the lines CR-2419 Dia 30" & CR-2420 Dia 42" are flared to cold flare (wet gases). Concern is: during shut down of one train or more expansion of network became excessive causing by displacement of supports (dismantling of half shells). This may be considered hazardous.

Question is:
What is RCA Root Cause Analysis for these phenomena?

Is it due to leak of No of expansion loop vs. length of network?
If yes how to design the circuit?

The attached file:
Iso’s layout (see page1and 2/4);
Technical characteristic of piping (see page 3/4)
Space between nozzles within manifold (See page 4/4);

Tanks in advance and have a nice day,

My best regards,

R.B (mechanical engineer)

Please hire a stress engineer to do that work.

Good morning

BigInch,

Yes, I agree with you, a forum is a way to exchange ideas.

The lines have existed since 1983 and were designed by PULLMAN contractor. My concern raised above is not work-related.

It is just a personal question and I would like to share with the group for general interest.

For your information, I am the owner of this installation.

Thank you for your message and for useful collaboration.

R.B (Mechanical engineer)
