NX7.5 - Synchronous Modeling/Resize Bend/Chamfer

NX7.5 - Synchronous Modeling/Resize Bend/Chamfer

(OP)
Hi,
What is the use of the Resize Bend/Chamfer (under Synchronous Modeling) for a NX user?
The first and easy option would be to update the Bend/Chamfer to the desired value........!
Do you have any good example when using this options would be indispensable?
Thanks

It'll be a lot easier to modify the previous values of the Bend and/or Chamfer.......wouldn' it?...........

RE: NX7.5 - Synchronous Modeling/Resize Bend/Chamfer

If you have an unparametized model in from another source (vendor, customer, etc) then you will need a way to change it that way.
If the model is parametized, then yes, it is easier just to change the features values.

RE: NX7.5 - Synchronous Modeling/Resize Bend/Chamfer

I agree that working with unparameterized bodies is the primary use of these commands, but there is a situation I would (and have) used them on a native model. When there is a dead line breathing down your neck and you have to make a "simple" change to a model created by that coworker (you know, the one that went to the Rube Goldberg school of 3D modeling) where a simple looking change either causes the model to error out or update in unexpected ways; in this case I would go for the additional synchronous command or two at the end of the part history tree.

Jerry and cowski,
Thanks for share.

RE: NX7.5 - Synchronous Modeling/Resize Bend/Chamfer

I use them a lot to update parts to CAE-friendly versions.

RE: NX7.5 - Synchronous Modeling/Resize Bend/Chamfer

We find it especially useful for people in our structures department, they typically work with parasolids rather than the CAD model for their FEA and they don't tend to be that good with NX, so if after running an analysis they need to make some changes to the parasolid, they can use the synchronous tools which are reaonsably straight forward to use such as resize blend without having to ask for another parasolid from the designers.
