Typical Polymer Solution Strengths?

Typical Polymer Solution Strengths?

Typical Polymer Solution Strengths?

(OP)
I am working on a 2MGD package treatment plant. We are injecting two polymers:
- Kemira A-110, anionic polmer before the tube settlers,
- Kemira C-492, cationic polymer before the adsorption clarifier.

What is a typical solution strength for these chemicals? I need to size feed pumps.
Also, the chemicals I listed were used in the pilot study and are dry. We are thinking of going with a liquid polymer with a mixing chamber instead. Any thoughts on pros/cons for each?

RE: Typical Polymer Solution Strengths?

Both of them Max. 0.5%

RE: Typical Polymer Solution Strengths?

All of the users that I have worked with feel that mixing up polymer from dry materials is very difficult and time consuming. For that reason, most use liquid polymer and dilution systems.

RE: Typical Polymer Solution Strengths?

Typical dosing is less than 1 mg/l maximimum. For a 2 mgd plant emulsified liquid is the way to go. With a dry system, if you can even get it at that size, the charge only lasts about a day and it loses strength and the quantity left over becomes wasted material

RE: Typical Polymer Solution Strengths?

Usually in the region 0.2mgl. If you don't have dilution water you need to approximate the polymer viscosity to that of the sludge to aid mixing. If your are dosing to raw water your batches should be in the around 0.05mgl
