Export to Step with Csys

Export to Step with Csys

(OP)
I'm trying to export a part file that contains solid bodies and coordinate systems. The objects are named.

To validate the named objects are exported, I edit the STEP file in Notepad and search for the names.

All of the named objects are there, with the exception of a coordinate system that is located at absolute. If I move it a couple of microns, then it too is exported as a named object. Just not, when it's located at 0,0,0.

Any idea why this is ?

RE: Export to Step with Csys

Are we talking about a 'Datum CSYS' or a 'Coordinate System Object'? The default 'Datum CSYS', located at 0,0,0, while it behaves as if it were a Coordinate System Object, actually isn't. So before you name the 'Datum CSYS', try going to...

Format -> WCS -> Save

...which will create a 'Coordinate System Object' at 0,0,0, and now assign a name to THIS object and then continue testing the exporting workflow.

and don't forget to have Coordinate Systems toogled ON under the Data to Export tab in the STEP export menu

John, yes, I'm using the 'Coordinate System Object' and Jerry, yes, I do have that option toggled on.

Still no named object if it's positioned at 0,0,0

RE: Export to Step with Csys

Could the settings file have anything to do with this?
