Bidding a stamping job with the above specs. Can anyone shed any light on what type steel this is? I have been told it was CR strip coil but have no other data.

SAE J2392 is a specification for cold rolled strip steel. Temper #1 has the following description:

very hard and springy intended for flat work not requiring cold forming.

The composition is for a carbon steel (0.25% max) with a tensile strength of ~ 620 MPa. You can purchase your own copy of the standard (your customer will require this) directly from SAE or from IHS:
