Error on Non-linear Analysis (RIKS)

Error on Non-linear Analysis (RIKS)

Error on Non-linear Analysis (RIKS)

(OP)
Hi, I am currently running post-buckling analysis to investigate the behaviour of axial load applied on double storey steel plate shear wall . The "step" of structure are Static,General(Step 1) and Static, RIKS (Step 2)with 3 boundary conditions which are fixed restraint (initial) at the bottom of structure, restraint (initial) on top of column and horizontal displacement (RIKS) on top of structure. After all the "step", "BC", "load" and etc are applied to the structure then analysis perform. From the msg. it stated the analysis was completed but with warning such as "negative eigenvalue" as I assumed is due to the buckling mode. Therefore, I am wondering is there any ways to solve this problem as I know the problem is based on increment either in step 1 or step 2. I have searched for solutions for the past few weeks to solve this issue and retry for many times, yet it is still not solve as i'm don't really understand the issue (I am new to ABAQUS).

In addition, how do I assume the time increment as I am sort of confused with the time increment thingy. This is because sometime the error massage shown "too many attempts made for this increment", "convergence problem", and etc. I hope, I am able to get some advice from you guys.

Thank you and appreciate.
