Where to get Chicago Building Code
Where to get Chicago Building Code
(OP)
I am looking for a copy of the 2012 building code. I'm not sure what a reasonable cost is to pay for it. I've found a site selling it for $324 but i've also found a site selling the 2010 for $138. But I've also found a couple sites selling old versions of the code for about $300.
Does anyone know of a good site or store in the city to pick one up?
Thanks

As EOR's we should take the responsibility to design our structures to support the components we allow in our design per that industry standards.

More and more of the larger AHJ are making the code viewable online to meet the requirement of allowing the public free access to the code as required by the law. Before you had to go to the place they had the hard copy to look and copy from it.
The nice thing about the California State and the City of Phoenix Building Codes is that being based on the IBC I can look things up in my copy of the IBC first than check them online for any AHJ changes.

IMHO by law they do need to provide free access to the laws. But who wants to go to wherever they have the code to look and/or copy it.
