Where would be a good start to learn pressure design, asme viii, div 1?

RE: pressure vessels asme viii div 1

Obviously ASME Section VIII, Division -1 2thumbsup

Jokes apart, you can refer the following two books, which is very good for beginners in ASME Sec8, D1
1. Pressure Vessels, the ASME code simplified by J. Phillip Ellenberger, Robert Chuse & Bryce E Carson Sr.
2. Pressure Vessels, Design & Practice by Somnath Chattopadhyay

There might be many other books, but I found these very good.

All the very best.

Or join an insurance co. such as the Hartford boilers and be trained as a potential boiler inspector. There you will be learning the fired and unfired pressure vessel codes including all other related codes.

ASME offers some continuing education courses on pressure vessel design. Some of the vessel design software companies may offer courses on their software use as well.

It would somewhat depend on how you were getting involved. The best place to learn would be working with an experienced engineer already doing that work. The ASME courses cover the generalities, but the devil is in the details, and designing a vessel can involve a lot of nitpicking minor detail work. As you go along, some of the vessel design handbooks will be handy, too.
