Need some help: transition surface/solid
Need some help: transition surface/solid
(OP)
Hi all,
need some help or advice. Look at the attaced prt file (nx7). I need to create transition between (150mm) two rails (bigger one is standard R65 type rail, and smaller one is switch-blade rail). Transition surface should be tangent to corresponding surfaces of each rail. I tried using "bridge curve" and then "surface through curves", but the result is not very good.
Thanks.

I checked your file, two of the small blend area faces seems to be not smooth. Pl check the image file. Just to know the reason for this.
eex23,
Pl check the alignment points in your movie file its not matching!

Hint : check the system drawn line between those two points for all alignments

"Extract" all the faces (except the four bad ones)
Create four new faces "through curve mesh"
"Sew" all the faces together into a new solid

I assume that the problems arise since we are trying to create a "super transition", many faces and many constraints at the same time, and the math model that works for the big-flat faces don't work for the small-curved faces at the same time.

Tomas

To the toolmaker, your nice little cartoon drawing of your glass looks cool, but your solid model sucks. Do you want me to fix it, or are you going to take all week to get it back to me so I can get some work done?
