how to remove moisture from medium voltage motor?

how to remove moisture from medium voltage motor?

how to remove moisture from medium voltage motor?

(OP)
dear sir
2.6MW 6.6KV induction motor ,gives low resistance with 4Mohm and was tripping with earth fault current (with fault current=42Amp),the network neutral connected to ground through 150 ohm resistor.
and because no signs of any winding damage ,we decide to condensate the winding to remove any humidity if located,
so we going to connect small power supply (400v) to the winding resistor(which rated with 6.6Kv) and the rotor was removed ,is this method correct?

RE: how to remove moisture from medium voltage motor?

Thanks for the links jraef. These would really be helpful.

RE: how to remove moisture from medium voltage motor?

Does the motor have space heaters - can these be used?

Contact the manufacturer, I have seen atmospheric moisture drying proceedure in some IOM's.

I propose an inspection by a suitable person for other than atmospheric moisture.

Regards,
Lyle
