Parts List "As Required" display

Parts List "As Required" display

Parts List "As Required" display

(OP)
Is there a way to change the default As Required status of a component to show in the parts list as "AR" instead of the default "A/R"

Company standards require "AR"

Thanks

RE: Parts List "As Required" display

What version of NX are you running and does this have anything to do with Teamcenter?

Sorry ,We have NX753 MP2 64 bit and we are using Teamcenter 8.3.3

RE: Parts List "As Required" display

I assume that you're talking about how the 'QTY' reported in a Parts List for a Component can be set to be 'As Required' from within the Component's Properties dialog, correct? If so, I'm not aware of any way to modify/edit the default 'A/R' notation within NX itself (of course there's nothing stopping you from NOT setting this option and simply manually editing the numerical quantity text in the cell to be whatever you wish).

Now since you're using Teamcenter, you may have more luck there as there are more options offered when it comes to assigning units-of-measure and being able to customize these values, so you might wish to look there for a possible solution.

That being said, I have to admit that in the 4 years since we added the ability (in NX 6.0) to assign the quantity of a Component to be 'As Required', this is the first time that I have personally seen a complaint about the format or content of the notation. This leads me to ask, is your company's 'standard' based on a recognized industry standard or just something specific to your organization?

John , Yes I was refering to the component property dialog that sets the quantity to "A/R" , And I have been editing the quantity to AR, I just get a pop up when I do that states "Manually editing a cell quantity column where the row references multiple members can cause incorrect quantites to appear for newly created rows if key fields are changed." so with that I try to keep items with "as required" at the top of the parts list.

I work for a contract company that does work for a large corporation who's initals are G E. As for the standards, They follow industry standards but have thier own standards that supersede industry standards. This is from one of those standards.

2.1.2 QUANTITY. Except as provided in this standard, the quantity entered shall be the actual number
of items required at each specific zone and sheet location. Where the quantity cannot be precisely
specified for items such as balance washers, shims, etc., the letters “AR” (as required) shall be entered.

Currently they use a time consuming/ unforgiving script to generate a parts list, if it has hundreds of parts as some do it can take days to add to a drawing. I've been using the NX parts list, I have modified it to look the same, and can import it into a drawing file, just small things like the "AR" and balloon reference callout ( "REF" needs to be outside the balloon not inside it). And if I could find a way to have the items sheet and zone called out in the parts list it would be perfect. But still it is 1000 times better than what is used now.
