The frequency of testing solid state (static ) protection relays

The frequency of testing solid state (static ) protection relays

(OP)
Is there any standard, either IEEE or IEC,which recommends a particular frequency for periodic testing of static protection relays. As per Du pont standard, the frequency is 6 years for microprocessor based (numerical relays). Is it applicable for static relay as well. Does a relay manufacturer recommends it ?

RE: The frequency of testing solid state (static ) protection relays

Suggestion: There appears to be a lack of industry standards pertaining to the static relay testing beside the one mentioned above. Static relays are gradually superseded by digital/numerical relays. These relays have self-testing feature, monitoring, reporting, etc., therefore, their routine testing is less significant. The solid state relays routine testing and maloperations were indicators of potential problems. Visit
