Assembling Once Through Steam Generator (OTSG) design code ASME Sec 1. My company is the holder of an ASME S Stamp. OTSG comprises of two major pressure parts radiant section, & convection section, both section are connected by 3" Sch XXS (0.600") SA335-P22 pipe spools. Please advise if connecting piping falls under boiler proper piping & requires P4 or P4A data report & requires code stamping. Please note: piping has not been code stamp only has paint marker indicating some data. Boiler supplier (Designer & Manufacture) has stated code stamping is not required as-per PG-106.8.2 It is my opinion this clause is only when part of a boiler is supplied. Please advise.

Depending on design, I would call it either Boiler Proper or Boiler External -- stamping is mandatory in either case.

As part of the boiler loop it has to be certified by whoever welded the spool. As ..part..
