why would an attribute in text change to ref*1

why would an attribute in text change to ref*1

why would an attribute in text change to ref*1

(OP)
I have attributes in my part and I type in for example: <w@pn>. The text editor then changes it to <wRef1*0@pn>. I am using nx 8. Is there a way to disable this? I would rather just type in <w@pn> and have it stay like that.

RE: why would an attribute in text change to ref*1

Are you saying that what you want is a note on your drawing which reads <w@pn>?

I would like the note on the drafting sheet read the attribute, but in the text input inside the note read <w@pn> without the extra ref text.

It does display the right value, but if I want to copy and paste the attibute <wRef1*0@pn> I get an error even though it reads it fine in a different note.
