Sketching in drafting
Sketching in drafting
(OP)
I am using NX7.5. I have view that I only need to use part of on a drawing. I can use view boundry to shrink the view to show what I want, but I need to sketch a couple of arcs in to indicate rotation of the parts, of the assembly, in the view. The sketched line needs to be symetrical, when it is one end will be out of the edge of the new boundry. Is there a way to create a boundry to show what I want to see of the assembly in the drawing and still be able to sketch whatever size I want to? In Ideas you could create a user defined boundry to limit what was shown from the model or assembly, and then be able to draw anywhere around it. Is there anything similar to this that can be done?

RE: Sketching in drafting
If you do not want the sketch in all your views, move it to a layer that you have nothing else on that you need for drafting and then select Format > Layer Visible in View. Then select the views you don't want the sketch in and select that layer as invisible.
You may also need to add the sketch to your "Reference Set" (Format > Reference Sets...)
RE: Sketching in drafting
You can sketch either on the face of the Drawing itself or within any one of the views. And if you do sketch inside a view, the sketch will move with the view and if the sketch curves extend past the original view boundaries, when the view is updated the boundaries will automatically update so that those curves are visible in the view.
