Spread Footing Support with Micropiles

Spread Footing Support with Micropiles

(OP)
Anyone have a clever solution to support a steel column bearing on a shallow spread footing using micropiles, such that the column does not need to be shored during construction?

I see one method is to core through the footing and attach with an epoxy grout, however, I think our loads will be beyond the flexural/shear capacity of the footing, as well as the bond of the adhesive to preclude its use.

Thanks!

Ted

RE: Spread Footing Support with Micropiles

Could you install the micropiles around the existing footing and then underpin the footing in segments, installing a new footing that spans between the micropiles? Then again, if you have room for a large enough spread footing to do that you might not need micropiles in the first place. Just a thought, to aid with the brainstorming session.
