How to create a simple solid cone shape?

How to create a simple solid cone shape?

How to create a simple solid cone shape?

(OP)
Hi all,

A simple question: How do you create a cone shape in abaqus? As far as I know, we can use a the loft shape, but I don't know how to do so.

Would greatly appreciate any help

Thank you

RE: How to create a simple solid cone shape?

There may be many procudures however you may follow this procedure
Make a shell circle say of 50mm diameter. Then Draw a datum plane and offset it from the circle to the distance where you want to end the cone. Then draw a wire circular sketch on that datum plane of a very tiny diameter say 0.005mm. Then come out of the sketch and use the Lofted extrude command, use INSERT BEFORE and select the small diameter. and use INSERT AFTER and select the bigger circle...you will end up with a cone.

hope this helps
Regards

RE: How to create a simple solid cone shape?

When creating the part use the Solid->Revolution option, draw a triangle and revolve around 360 degrees.

RE: How to create a simple solid cone shape?

Agree with MechIRl. rather than using the loft option which is a lengthy procedure, using the revolve option is much easier and quicker.

Regards
