Base shear on ETABS
Base shear on ETABS
(OP)
Hello
I used etabs in my M.Sc. research to analyze different heights of buildings subjected to wind load.
The problem is, after analysis, the base shear for a 20-storey building is the same with or without shear wall. even when I change the shear wall thickness, it's still the same.
I know there is something wrong but I don't know what is it, maybe the model itself. Please answer my question ASAP I really don't have much time left......

RE: Base shear on ETABS
In a seismic situation, a stiffer building (shear wall) will have lower time period and hence, higher forces. So you may see higher base shear in a building with a shear wall.
RE: Base shear on ETABS
In your opinion by using ETABS what are the parameters i need to focus on to show the efficiency/strength of the shear wall? (my research about different location of shear wall)
what i know so far only the Top Displacement so what else i should take into consideration ?
