AutoCAD 2000 Printing Failures
AutoCAD 2000 Printing Failures
(OP)
I use AutoCAD 2000. When I open a file, I can only successfully print it one time. The next time I try to print, I get a failure notice. I get kicked out of AutoCAD and usually have to reboot, reopen the drawing, then I can get another print.
Can anyone help me with this problem?
Thank you in advance!

RE: AutoCAD 2000 Printing Failures
I have had similiar problems in the past printing to an HP 1220C. Once the print failed, if you checked the printers folder the printer would no longer be there and you would not be able to make any subsequent prints. Once you reboot, the printer reppears again as normal.
First I audit and recover the offending drawing to make sure there are no errors within the drawing. Then I open a drawing which I know has printed successfully in the past and paste my offending drawing into it, close the old bad file and save the new drawing as the old filename.
If you have many drawing files which have failed printing I am afraid you might have to audit, recover and repair the file as I described with all of them.
Although this problem is a pain I dont think it is an AutoCad problem. In my case I believe there is a glitch in the printer driver which can mess up autocad files under the right circumstances. It has happened to me most often when I have many drawings spooled on the printer.
Perhaps you could completely uninstall your printer and reinstall it with the latest drivers from your printer manufacturers website. But I think you will still need to fix the drawings first.
