Salt Fog Spray / Corrosion Testing

Salt Fog Spray / Corrosion Testing

Salt Fog Spray / Corrosion Testing

(OP)
I'm looking to establish testing qualification criteria for corrosion for wind turbines installed in coastal/offshore applications. Are there any standards that are commonly used across different industries?

Essentially, I would like to set my criteria as "withstand X hours under standard salt fog test conditions." Any recommendations? Where should I start looking?

ASTM. There are many specs on how to do the test and many material and coating specs that require it.

Thanks for the references! Very helpful.

RE: Salt Fog Spray / Corrosion Testing

Intermittent salt fogs have better correlation with most natural weathering than continuous (ASTM B117 type) salt fogs. In the real world, you typically have spray/dryoff/spray/dryoff/dew/dryoff, et cetera. The old B117 style salt fogs are a continuous wet condition.
