Is there any way to permanently disable this annoying box ?

For the kind of job that I do this is completely unuseful and it slows down the workflow.

I understand that someone could need this features but why don't just offer them as an option ?

RE: Input mode cursor box

I'm not sure about permanently getting rid of it but you can hit F3 to hide it.

When you draw hundred lines and curves every day (lines and curves that don't require that box) pressing a key each time you start drawing a new curve means adding hundred operations to your work. I'm sure there's a better solution out there!

RE: Input mode cursor box

Why bother with the box ?
Is it in the way for the cursor ?

I think that the idea, to minimize eye movement on the screen, is good.
One doesn't need to "search the screen" where to input the digits in case one needs that.

Tomas

Tomas, most of my work doesn't require coordinates. I mostly use object snap. The Input mode cursor box is just something that slows down the software response (one more box that keep opening) and cover the curves and the points where I'd want to snap.

It's like driving a car with a navigator hanging in front of your eyes...annoying ! Expecially if you know the road, then you don't even need a navigator elsewhere in your car.

If you're creating Line objects, rather than selecting the 'Line' icon from the 'Lines and Arcs' tollbar, try going to...

Insert -> Curve -> Line...

...and use the 'Inferred' Start and End options. This will minimize the on-screen entry boxes and yet still give you all possible options for defining the start and end point. And if you select the 'Apply' option then you will stay in this dialog until you're finished creating Lines.

What version of NX are you running?

RE: Input mode cursor box

Before you select the Start Point of the Line, this is what the Insert -> Curve -> Line dialog should look like:

RE: Input mode cursor box

The only option you have is to hit the 'F3' key which will temporarily remove the on-screen 'widgets'. Also note that you can drag them out of the way so that they don't impose themselves too much.

RE: Input mode cursor box

This also happens in View >> Sectioning >> Create new section.. Many times the input box is right in the way when doing sectioning for a design review..

I tried F3 in NX8.5, it brings about UG_EDIT_UNBLANK_SELECTED UG_GATEWAY_MAIN_MENUBAR

and also did hide geometry I was sectioning

RE: Input mode cursor box

NXSupport, If F3 is set to "UG_EDIT_UNBLANK etc" it is most probably a shortcut set up at your company.
When i press F3 in the sectioning dialog, it does the expected.

Tomas
