How can I create a site location for the machinery library in Tc?

How can I create a site location for the machinery library in Tc?

How can I create a site location for the machinery library in Tc?

(OP)
We've moved to Tc 8.3 and we're using NX 7.5. I set up the machinery library as a site function in native mode so I could install it once and everyone would have access to the same items. My question is how to do the same thing in Teamcenter. How can I install the machinery library as a site function? So far I can only get it to work in Tc by installing it on each users computer, which I don't want to do.

RE: How can I create a site location for the machinery library in Tc?

How did you do it Native ?

I have set it thru the customer defaults, Gateway - Reuse library - General - Teamcenter integration , and there it is site dependent by nature if it's set under site defaults level.

Or ?

Tomas

After reading your reply, which makes perfect sense, I have tried to install the machinery library again. This time I used 3 full libraries instead of 3 parts like last time, for testing. I ran the NX Machinery Library Installation Wizard and it says that it created the "Machinery Library" folder in "Home" of infodba. That folder does not exist, nor do any of the others it states it made. The parts seem to have imported OK but not into any folders. The "Libraries Organized by Teamcenter Folder" in the customer defaults was to be Reuse|infodba:Home, Machinery Library. Now what to do, try to delete all the items (not really looking forward to that) or if I make the folder structure in Tc under infodba, will that work?

In Native NX, I have a site on teh network where I have copied the UGII, UGDOC, customer_defaults, etc. There I created a folder that contains the reuse library with the machinery standard parts. Then, using the default level "Site", in the customer defaults-->Reuse Library-->General-->Native NX is Reuse|T:\pathway to the reuse folder on the network, locked to prevent changing at the user level.

I have been looking at things and I see that the .krx files didn't make it. Any ideas how to get them in?

RE: How can I create a site location for the machinery library in Tc?

Is it an old copy of the reuse library you installed ?
I know that "in very old" versions there were problems with the KRX, ( Or rather that older versions of TC did not know what a krx was.)

When i installed the M.lib., i read the guide very carefully and it worked as expected.

You could run a "Impact analysis - where referenced " on one of the standard parts to see where / what folder it resides in.

The address to the reuse in the customer defaults above looks a little strange
"the customer defaults was to be Reuse|infodba:Home, Machinery Library."
the folder separation in Teamcenter should be ":", which in the above maybe should be
"Reuse|infodba:Home:Machinery Library"

Yeah, I read the guide also and ran it on my test system. No Idea why I have had so much trouble. It's very comprehensive.
The version I used was downloaded from the GTAC site about 2 months ago. So, it should be good.

I reconstructed the folder structure in Tc, infodba:home, searched and found everything and put it where it belongs. The .krx files came along when I put everything in the correct folders so they were in Tc somewhere still referencing the parts.
In the Customer Defaults, site level, I set the address to Reuse|infodba:Machinery Library and everything works now. Had to remove Home from the address. I know I could have set it like Machinery Library|infodba:Machinery Library and everyone would have had the folder Machinery Library but they are used to seeing it under the Reuse folder from NX native.

I believe that the address error is why I had to search for the test folder and add it to each users library. I feel silly about that because I know that the "," is wrong and should be ":". Thanks for remining me.
