HOW TO PUT INDIVIDUAL HOLES AND OUTER EDGE OF PARTS ON SEPERATE LAYERS IN DRAWINGS, USING WOODWOP TO PROGRAM CNC WOODWORKING MACHINE, WOODWOP USES LAYERS TO PROGRAM DEPTH AND HOLE DIAMETER TO DRILL

RE: LAYERS IN DRAWINGS

As far as I know you can not put individual features or edges on layers. This is a limitation that SolidWorks needs to address.

A work around is to save the drw out as a DWG or DXF and map the edges to the correct layers.  Then reopen the DWG or DXF and you should be set.  This is a cheesey work around at best.  Doing this breaks the link between the drw and the prt.  You could also save it as a DWG and open it in AutoCAD if you have it and move the entities to the correct layers there.

For mapping info go to Index under your help pulldown and type in map.  Then scroll down to Custom Map SolidWorks to DXF and select DXF/DWG mapping.  Once you create the map you can save it and reuse it.

Also make sure you enter an enhancement request for the functionality for putting edges on layers.  Make sure you mention the hoops that you have to jump through to do it now.

Hope this helps.
