Dear all

What should be the ideal case depth for SAE 1040 rear axle shafts with dia ranging from 30 to 40 mm and length upto 800 mm.These axle shafts are normalized after upset forging.

6mm case depth for a shaft of your configuration would be in the ball park.

we are manintainig 4 to 5.5 mm case depth at 45 Hrc. 6mm case depth @ what hrc.
