Bearing spread in case of angular contact bearings Back to back
Bearing spread in case of angular contact bearings Back to back
(OP)
What is bearing spread ? How do we measure it in case of angular contact bearings Back to back?

Incase of matched bearing how do we calculate the total radial load on the pair? Assume one pair each is mounted on the bevel gears.
Any information or links on this will be very helpful.
Best regards.

There is a page on the SKF website near the one you posted that explains how to calculate the equivalent bearing load on a matched bearing set.
Here it is

Yes bearing spread is the distance between both bearings in a back to back arrangement.Although its not the distance between their geometric centers but its the distance between the load centers.
Also i have seen the SKF page where it explains how to calculate the equivalent bearing load on a matched bearing set . But am i looking for is how to get the combined radial load on the bearing.

then I'd construct a free body diagram with the bearings and their lines of action located relative to the gear
