NX TeamCenter - Adding Multiple Different Components to an Assembly

NX TeamCenter - Adding Multiple Different Components to an Assembly

(OP)
I performed a search in TCE 8 and saved the results to a folder. I want to create an assembly in NX that includes all those items as components. Native NX allows me to select multiple part files at the same time from the dialog box. NX under TCE does not appear to allow this.

Is there a way I can easily add all of these results to my assembly. Adding them one-by-one is very time consuming and this is a method I would like to be able to use for many different occasions.

Thanks,
Jeff

In TC, if you search for a bunch of parts, you can copy the revisions by selecting the latest one of each whilst holding the CTRL button down. The go to the assembly where you want to add the parts and open the assembly in the structure manager. Select the top level and simply paste the copied parts in. Save the structure and open the assmebly in NX. you will get a message when the assembly opens along the lines of:-

Extra components added in Teamcenter
The structure of the following part has been modified in Teamcenter:

333/E4752_B

There are new components to be positioned.
In order to position these new components, set the work part to this part.
Use the Assemblies -> Components -> Manage Pending Components command.

You then need to position the parts that you have added by using the manage pending components command.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Si,

I also just discovered the TeamCenter Navigator in NX where I can navigate to the TCE folder which contains the items I wish to add, select them all and right-click and choose "add components to assembly". This keeps all the activity in NX under TCE and doesn't require me to push from My TeamCenter to Structure Manager and then to NX (which really slows down on my set up).

In my experience, the less time you have to spend in Teamcenter the better! I pretty much manage everything from NX, sequence numbers reference only part, UG geometry = NO everything. winky smile
