Industrial Brake Manufacturers

(OP)
Hi,

I have little experience in buying brakes and was wondering if you guyts could suggest some well known ad trusted manufacturers for industrial brakes.

For an idea of the range of brake I need. The shaft I need to stop will be going at 3000 rpm and 1184 Nm.

Also what are the properties I need to known when selecting an appropriate brake?

Thanks
Steve

RE: Industrial Brake Manufacturers

You need to know the total rotating inertia that you are trying to stop, and the amount of time allowed to stop it.

You need to know the duty cycle. Is this for an emergency brake that will operate hopefully never, but when it does only once, or does it operate every minute, every hour, every second?

Google for "shaft brake" returns a bunch of manufacturers.

Two names I know are Tolomatic and Horton. You should find all the engineering guidance you need on their websites.
