Open a part active NX session from external program

(OP)
Is it possible to open a part in NX from a external program that knows for example the partnumber of a part?
The reason behind my question is, that we already have a standalone classification browser program in which users could easiliy search for classified parts. Currently from that program we could open a found classified part within our current CAD system Ideas. Now while switching over to NX we want to reuse our classification browser tool and so have the need to open the found classified part in NX.
In this situation NX is already started on the computer and NX is in managed mode. We are currently running NX 7.5 and Teamcenter 8.3.

RE: Open a part active NX session from external program

I think you want the same behavior as double clicking a .prt file - open the part in an active session, or start a new session if needed. In the online help, search for ugs_router - you will find the syntax in the command line utilities section.

mmohr007,

You may also find the NX client server example in "%UGII_BASE_DIR%\ugopen\SampleNXOpenApplications\.NET\RemotingExample" useful.
