Question about importing polygon model from something like Maya to Solid Edge

(OP)
Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to import a model from a program like Maya and use it in Solid Edge. I know you can do .stl's but they cannot be edited or manipulated once in Solid Edge. Therefore I am wondering if there are any methods of saving to a format that can be edited, even if it is just copying the faces.

I currently have a program called Inivis AC3D, which is a cheap polygon modeler, that is similar to Maya, which can save in many formats for other software: http://www.inivis.com/features.html. So I am trying to find one that could work for what I am trying to achieve. I know it's a long shot, but I figured I would ask.

thanks,
AMorgan
