Sress relieving 25/4 Stanless castings

(OP)
Hello all,
My new colleages and I do not agree on what operation to stress relieve an 8" 25/4 stainless casted tube. Before or after rough machining and why? Thank you in advance.

RE: Sress relieving 25/4 Stanless castings

Typically you would do it after rough machine and before final.
That way you would take care of stresses both from casting and rough machining.
It should give you better dimension control at final this way.

Agree with Ed, stress relieve after rough machining, there will be no movement of dimensions.
