Formwork for Stemwall Foundation

Formwork for Stemwall Foundation

Formwork for Stemwall Foundation

(OP)
Is there any reason why formwork for stemwalls, which have been backfilled against, needs to be removed?

RE: Formwork for Stemwall Foundation

Yes. Termites.

I certainly understand the threat of termites on the wood formwork. But after the concrete walls have set, is the integrity of the formwork really a factor?

RE: Formwork for Stemwall Foundation

The integrity of the buried formwork may not be a factor, but buried wood can certainly be an attractive area for termites to gather, nest, and plan an attack on the structure.

Leave it and learn the hard way - but if you are in ALASKA - no problem!!

Or use steel/plastic form work
