Forecasting Workload & Resource Needs for Project Duration

Forecasting Workload & Resource Needs for Project Duration

Forecasting Workload & Resource Needs for Project Duration

(OP)
Hi Group,

I'm trying to forecast projet requirements & resource needs. I have the following but for whatever reasons, my calculations seem to be (little bit) off:

If I have a project duration: 08/20/12 –to– 12/21/12 (Target Date) with the following parameters:

Typical Work Week (Days) 5 (Cell N3)
Approx. Weeks 18 (Cell N4)
Avail. Workdays 87 (Cell N5)
Typical Work Hours 8 (Cell N6)

My Total Deliverables: 300 (Cell D10)

Estimated Duration to Complete: 15 days (Cell D12)

To Met Project Target Date (function) =ROUND(D10/$N$4,0) (Cell D14)
-- This is resulting with 5 days, which seem to be a low number.

-- Whatever this foretasted result is, how would I then determine the number of workers would be needed to work the project - Assuming 40 hr. week.

Thanks for the assistance or clarifications.....

RE: Forecasting Workload & Resource Needs for Project Duration

Take the total number of hours and divide by 40????

RE: Forecasting Workload & Resource Needs for Project Duration

units*hours/unit = hours required, which must be deprecated for inefficiencies, lost time, etc.
